PHYSICAL STRUCTURE
The Aylon stand at 2 meters tall, featuring a distinctive appearance that sets them apart in the galaxy. They resemble blue, furry mice, but with the muscular build and imposing strength more akin to rugged warriors. Complementing their strong bodies are bull-like horns atop their heads, which they carry with regal pride. Curiously, they lack tails, which is uncommon for a species with such rodent-like features.
ABILITIES AND UNIQUENESS
- Enhanced Physical Abilities: Aylon are known for their incredible strength and stamina. Despite their size, they move with remarkable agility, capable of running, jumping, climbing, and swimming with equal skill and speed. Their physical prowess—or “ferocity” as they term it—makes them valuable assets in both combat and labor.
- Chemical Detection: The Aylon possess an extraordinary sense of smell, enabling them to detect chemicals with precision. They can identify a 1-ounce container of a specific substance from up to a quarter of a mile away, making them excellent scouts or trackers in industrial or exploratory settings.
CULTURE AND LIFESTYLE
Aylon culture embraces the thrill of combat and the craftsmanship involved in weaponry. They have a deep fondness for disassembling and rebuilding weapons, with a particular fascination for explosives and new fighting techniques. However, their love for fighting isn’t rooted in a desire for war or death—they revel in the sport, strategy, and skill it requires.
When not engaging in combat or training, Aylon enjoy life’s simpler pleasures. They have a cultural affinity for drinking alcohol and consuming large quantities of roasted meat, often accompanying these indulgences with grand storytelling and jovial camaraderie. Twice a year, Aylon gather with their families for lavish feasts to celebrate life, acknowledging the uncertainty and danger that accompany their chosen lifestyle.
SOCIETY AND VALUES
Aylon society places a strong emphasis on family, community, and resilience. Their biannual feasts are not only celebrations but also reminders of the importance of living life to the fullest and cherishing the bonds they create. Honor and physical prowess are highly respected, and those who excel in martial skills or inventiveness with weapons often hold significant stature within their communities.
SHOABENSE CARTEL
Their formidable skills in combat and strength have attracted the attention of organizations like the Shaobense Cartel, who frequently seek to employ Aylon as muscle for various operations. While some Aylon accept these roles, others prefer to pursue their own goals or remain focused on their cultural traditions and practices. More on the Shoabense Cartel can be found here.
SPECIAL ABILITIES
- Ferocious Athletics: Exceptional strength, speed, and agility allow them to perform almost any physical task with ease, whether it be fighting, climbing, or swimming.
- Acute Chemical Senses: Highly developed olfactory senses enable them to detect and identify chemicals from a great distance.
- Weapons Craftsmanship: Natural aptitude for understanding and manipulating weaponry and explosives.
DRINKING GAMES
The Aylon are fond of a special drinking game called Rhythm Horn. The aim is to match the rhythm of a drumbeat while taking turns drinking, without missing a beat or spilling.
- Players sit in a circle with their drinks and a small drum or any object that produces a sound. They designate one player as the “Drummer” to keep the rhythm.
- The Drummer sets a simple, repetitive beat, using the drum or a similar object.
- In a clockwise direction, each player must take a sip of their drink in rhythm with the beat and pass an object (like a small cup) to the next player, all without breaking the beat.
- After one full circle, the Drummer has the discretion to slightly increase the tempo, making it harder to stay on beat as the game progresses.
- If a player misses the beat, spills their drink, or fails to correctly pass the object on time, they must take an additional sip and perform a small forfeit, such as reciting a short phrase or doing a quick dance move.
- The game continues until players decide to stop or everyone agrees to crown a “Champion of Rhythm”—the player who makes the fewest mistakes throughout the game session.
The “Rhythm Horn” emphasizes rhythm, coordination, and camaraderie, allowing Aylon to enjoy their love for drinking and social games while cultivating group harmony and shared experiences.

Naming Structure
The Aylon names often comprise three parts:
-
Given Name: Aylon are given a name at birth by their parents. This name often represents strength, bravery, or other warrior-like qualities, reflecting the Aylon’s martial culture. Examples of given names might include “Thran”, “Voric”, or “Gronn”.
-
Deed Name: The other part of their personal name is a “Deed Name”, bestowed upon them after they accomplish a monumental deed, usually during their coming of age or after significant battles. This part of their name reflects their personal achievements and is a recognition of their strength and valor. It could be symbolic or literal, depending on their accomplishments, such as “Beastslayer” for a young Aylon who prevailed against a wild beast, or “Stormbringer” for one who won a battle during a fierce storm.
-
Clan Name: Finally, an Aylon’s name contains a link to their lineage or clan, demonstrating their strong sense of tradition and family ties. A clan name often denotes the ancestral vocation, location, or a characteristic trait of the clan such as “Ironhand”, “Hornbearer” or “Firesinger”.
Here are a few sample Aylon names as per the proposed convention:
- Thran Beastslayer Ironhand: An Aylon named Thran, who managed to slay a wild beast as a rite of passage, from the Ironhand clan known for their exceptional crafting abilities.
- Voric Stormbringer Hornbearer: An Aylon named Voric who led his people to victory during a storm, from the Hornbearer clan who are often leaders in their community.
- Gronn Flamecaller Firesinger: An Aylon named Gronn known for invoking the ceremonial fires during rituals, from the Firesinger clan who are traditionally the keepers of lore and songs.
This naming convention would provide every Aylon with a distinct and personal name – a badge of honor that they carry with pride, representing their individual achievements and their strong ties to their community and traditions.
