PHYSICAL STRUCTURE

The Kuay’Zho Priests are a distinctive and mysterious group, often appearing daunting due to their attire rather than their physical form. The Priests are typically of average humanoid height, around 1.8 meters, yet their heavy black armor adds a bulkier appearance. This armor is ornate, etched with intricate symbols detailing their lifelong commitment and penitence, believed to absorb and bear the weight of their sins. The great pyramid-shaped helmets they wear are riddled with electronics, symbolizing their connection to higher divine concepts. Unique to their tradition, each Priest must personally hand-forge their helmet as a rite of passage, infusing it with their spiritual essence and dedication to the faith. This ceremonial crafting process is both an art and a discipline, representing their personal commitment to their path.

The helmet and armor can only be removed in the privacy of their bathing rituals or within the sacred company of other priests.

ATTIRE

Their attire consists of a dark, flowing cloak that acts as an Albedo Screen, providing defense against various energy attacks. The deep black of the cloak contrasts with the vivid flashes of light that skim across its surface during hostile encounters. Each Priest carries a staff embedded with a crystal that can fire with the power of a laser rifle when charged, reflecting their dual role as agents of both persuasion and enforcement. This staff is both their symbol of authority and their means of protection.

WEAPONS

The Priests are armed with advanced gauntlets: one functions as a shock glove, capable of incapacitating enemies through intense electric discharge, while the other functions like a needler pistol. Touching the thumb to the knuckle of the index finger on the needler glove fires a series of tiny, potent needles, making it a discreet yet effective weapon.

SENSES

Their helmets house a sophisticated array of sensors, enhancing their ability to perceive energy fluctuations and intentions of those around them. This electronic augmentation aids in identifying potential converts or threats from a distance

SPEECH

Kuay’Zho Priests have a resonant and echoing speech, amplified by their helmets to command attention and incite a mixture of awe and fear. Their language incorporates solemn chant-like phrases, focusing on persuasion and indoctrination. They are capable of speaking in various languages to appeal to the diverse populations they encounter.

SOCIETY AND CUSTOMS

The Kuay’Zho Priests operate as a tight-knit brotherhood (and sisterhood) with a rigid hierarchy. Their society revolves around maintaining absolute devotion to their god, which manifests through their regular pilgrimages to the great Black Pyramid on Resh—a sacred place where they commune with their deity. This pilgrimage occurs twice a Resh year, during which they receive guidance and absolution. When not on pilgrimage, they roam worlds, seeking converts with the promise of spiritual ascension, sometimes through less than ethical means.
Their customs are shrouded in secrecy; outsiders know little of their rituals and internal practices. Bathing and armor removal customs underscore their beliefs in purity and connection with their god.

SPECIAL ABILITIES

  • Penitent Armor: Provides high resistance to physical and energy-based attacks, reflecting the sin absorption they endure.
  • Divine Judgment (Crystal Staff): Functions as a laser, consuming energy equivalent to an SEU weapon.
  • Judicial Shock (Shock Gauntlet): Delivers a stunning electric shock that can incapacitate opponents upon contact.
  • Epidermal Needle Implant (Needler Gauntlet): Fires needles upon thumb-index contact, with effects akin to a needler pistol.

RELIGION AND PHILOSOPHY

The Kuay’Zho Priests adhere to a faith that emphasizes spiritual redemption and the absorption of worldly sin through penitence and devotion. They believe in a deity that embodies ultimate judgment and forgiveness, residing within the massive Black Pyramid on Resh. Their faith necessitates strict adherence to rituals and the recruitment of converts to spread their teachings and expand their influence.
Central to their doctrine is the idea that sin is a tangible weight, both physical and spiritual, which only through their armor and acts of conversion can they hope to balance until their deity’s final judgment. Faithful followers are promised relief and enlightenment in the afterlife.
The religion’s outward mission is seemingly one of salvation, yet it incorporates a fanatical drive for growth and dominance across the galaxy, under the aegis of fulfilling their deity’s great plan.

THE BLACK PYRAMID

The Great Black Pyramid stands as a monolithic structure on the surface of Resh, dwarfing all other man-made edifices on the planet. Constructed from a mysterious dark stone that seems to absorb light, its imposing presence is visible from miles away. The stone’s surface is smooth and cold to the touch, etched with ancient runes and symbols that glow faintly in shifting patterns, believed to be messages from their deity, Zylar’ek.
The pyramid’s architecture is a marvel of both engineering and artistry, designed to exude an aura of awe, power, and divine authority. Its precise geometric shape and alignment with celestial bodies suggest that its origins may be as ancient and enigmatic as the deity it honors.
The Great Black Pyramid is much more than a mere architectural wonder; it serves as the spiritual heart of the Kuay’Zho Priests’ religion. It is here that the priests perform their sacred rituals and communions with Zylar’ek. The pyramid houses the Priests’ archives, sacred relics, and chambers used for meditation and reflection, designed to enhance their connection with their god.
Twice a Resh year, all active priests return to the pyramid for a grand pilgrimage. During this time, they undertake rituals of atonement and receive spiritual guidance through a mysterious energy believed to emanate from the core of the pyramid itself. This energy infuses the Priests with renewed purpose, reinforcing their faith and dedication.
Inside, the pyramid is a labyrinth of corridors and chambers, each with its own function in the Priests’ religious practices. The central chamber, known as the Chamber of Communion, is a vast hall where priests gather to experience direct communication with Zylar’ek. This chamber is said to be alive with a pulsating energy that reflects the divine presence, enabling visions and spiritual insights.
The pyramid’s depths remain largely unexplored by outsiders, filled with hidden archives and cryptic inscriptions that chronicle the history and prophecy of the Kuay’Zho people.
Legends among the Kuay’Zho Priests tell of the pyramid’s creation by Zylar’ek itself, having descended from the heavens to establish its place on Resh as a guide for the faithful. It is said that within its walls lies the key to ultimate judgment and spiritual ascension, truths accessible only to those deemed worthy by their deity.
Rumors of hidden chambers, guardian spirits, and lost technologies abound, contributing to the mystique surrounding the pyramid. Some tales speak of those who have entered the pyramid’s depths seeking enlightenment, never to return.
The Great Black Pyramid serves not only as a religious site but also as a symbol of power and unity among the Kuay’Zho Priests. It anchors their society, drawing converts and reinforcing the Priests’ influence across the planets they visit. The pyramid inspires both reverence and fear, its shadow spreading the doctrine of Zylar’ek throughout the galaxy.
